Bathroom design
Bathroom design will be the first section of your bathroom renovation you need to get right. Just replacing the existing bathroom with the same design will not be enough. The key to great bathroom design is to design it with all the people that will certainly use it in your mind. However make certain that your bathrooms design even offers a broad use factor at the same time.

For example: If you were designing your bathroom for families you can still design the lavatory with quick access on the shower and bath. This would ensure that the look would also work if you have limited mobility. This means if you opt to sell your own home or if you are renovating for profit your design features a wider market appeal. Great bathroom design also uses the room well, considering the sunlight or window space, size fittings, and drainage options. Draw out a plan to scale and all the way down the sizes of your respective room. Mark the prevailing drainage points after which and water inlet points. Write down a wish list of the lavatory fittings to need and want using their sizes. Now marry both the together to see what fits. Note: Most bathroom drainage and water inlet points may be moved but this will come at expense.

Bathroom remodel
If you've decided to accomplish the task yourself or part of the task it's time to employ a skip bin and retrieve the existing bathroom. If your own home is made pre 1980 you may have fibro bathroom wall linings with asbestos inside it and great care will need to be taken. You will need some full body disposable overalls, eye protection, and quality dust mask. Check with your local building authority or council about the regulation on bathroom asbestos wall lining removal.
Remove everything except the plumbing. If you keep the toilet plumbing set up you will not have to turn water off for the whole house. Also you will likely need to jack hammer a floor tiles up and the sand and cement bed they are laid on.

Paint ceiling and final  one - Plumbing and electrical
At now many new plumbing is installed for clean cold and hot water and drainage. Careful attention must be taken when positioning the modern plumbing so the plumbing fittings are correct in the event the tiling is completed. For example: To centre a fitting in the shower recess you must take into consideration the thickness in the wall board, tile glue and tile and so the fitting will be centred following your tiles are in place. The same applies to installing drainage pipes to get a toilet; the wall lining and tile thickness has to be taken into account therefore the pipe is in the correct position when the toilet is installed after tiling. Also rough within the any new electrical wires without connecting them on the mains power.

Step two - Install wall and ceiling linings
Install your 6mm wall lining fostering to nail the fibro board every 150mm without nailing into the brand new pipes and electrical wires. The best way is always to measure and mark the pipe and wire layout onto your new wall board with a pencil while you go. Screw up (or nail) the ceiling lining, plasterboard may be the most common. However if you happen to be laying your tiles from floor to ceiling do not install the cornice because best done after tiling. If you are not tiling to the ceiling go on and install the cornice following the wallboard and ceiling lining are actually installed. Also if your bath is just not freestanding anyone can form the frame and install the bathtub. Ensure the bathtub is installed correctly permitting the thickness from the tiles and  sure to test all linings and pipes prior to deciding to continue with your bathroom renovation.

Step three - Waterproof your bathroom
Waterproof your bathroom floor, shower recess, and around the bathtub. When waterproofing the ground be sure that the waterproofing comes 100mm in the walls. The shower recess should be waterproofed 100mm above the shower rose outlet. Also the tub must be waterproofed 100mm higher than the lip from the bath about and for the floor. At the doorway install a 25 x 25mm aluminum angle glued into place with quality silicone and waterproof to the lip. Your whole bathroom should now the tanked, and so the all water is only going to decrease a drain. Bathroom waterproofing tip: waterproofing is an easy job but quality and accuracy is most crucial.
Step four - Lay in the cement screed for a floor.

Before the bottom tiles can laid the floor has to be smooth and fairly flat with a slight fall towards the drainage outlet. To do this you should use sand and cement mix which is best to give a waterproofing agent into this also. With a level, set the bottom level with the doorway. Use the top aluminum angle because finished floor level and measure around the thickness with the tile plus 10mm to the glue. Mark around the restroom using a level then screed within your sand and cement mix using a 1 to 3 degree fall for the top of the drain outlet. Take your time and have it right with the finished level as smooth as is possible. When the sand cement mix has set but is not dry (you can walk on it however you it's still somewhat soft) rub it over which has a house brick. This will remove all of the small highs and lows and look which has a level as you go. Let the lavatory floor fully dry then you should have a great surface to tile onto. Tip: the more work you put into the ground screed the more your tiling will probably be.

Step five: Tile floor and walls
Lay your tiles on a floor first and then grout. Then lay your wall tiles making certain that they are level while you lay. Once the restroom tiles have been cut and laid, grout all your tiles and after that buff the tiles clean.
Step six: Install plumbing fitting and fixtures
Install your plumbing fittings and taps. Also fit your entire towel rails and soap holders. Fit your bathroom vanity ensuring it can be level and sealed across the top with silicone and also seal around the tub. Tip: make sure they come in the right place prior to deciding to drill into the tiles.
